Chapter 7 Response by Larry

Response for Chapter 7

In Chapter 7, Allen talks about how to organize after processing the inbox to empty. Allen suggested a bunch of different packages to organize, including: projects, action list, calendar, waiting for, and someday/maybe. Projects category is used to register different projects we have. Calendar category is for anything that happens on a particular time. Action list piles up all the next physical action that needs to happen to push the projects forward. Waiting for is used to expect things that we have delegated or the emails we needed to hear back.

I found the category quite interesting. There might be some overlap between different categories. Action list could be mapped up in the calendar category. It also raises the question that how often we should review and repeat the whole process of in-boxing and processing. It seems to be a lot of work to deal with.

  1. I also notice that many categories can possibly overlap. It just makes it more difficult to distinguish what goes where, but with practice, hopefully that will no longer be a problem.
